Instructor Bios

Leland Management provides industry leading education opportunities to Board Members throughout the state. These courses are instructed by community association management professionals that have taken an active role in shaping the industry. Rebecca Furlow, President / CEO

Rebecca is a Community Association Manager licensed by the State of Florida. Rebecca has 15 years' experience in the banking industry and in corporate management prior to becoming President of Leland Management. Rebecca was on the Board of the Mid Florida Chapter of CAI (Community Association Institute) for six years and President for three terms. Rebecca holds a CFCAM (Certified Florida Community Association Manager) designation and is an education course curriculum provider for the Florida Community Association Professionals' statewide training program. Rebecca has managed Leland Management and numerous associations for over a decade during which time Leland Management has established an outstanding reputation, a loyal client base and has been named Best Place to Work for seven consecutive years. Rebecca has been honored as both a Women of Distinction and Business Owner of the Year for Women who Mean Business.

David Furlow, Vice President / CFO

David is a CPA and Licensed Community Association Manager with degrees in Economics and Accounting/Finance. He has over 26 years of experience as the CFO of large corporations and holds the CMCA professional designation from CAI. David was named Central Florida CFO of the year in 2011 and he oversees Leland’s accounting and collections departments. David is also certified by the state of Florida to provide accredited continuing education classes to managers and board members and is currently serving on the Florida Legislative Alliance for CAI.

Gary van der Laan, Senior Vice President

Gary has been a Licensed Community Association Manager for the past 20 years. In his position as Vice president with Leland Management, Gary facilitates manager education as well as teaching Board training programs throughout the state. Gary is certified by the State of Florida to teach several continuing education courses for licensed managers as well as the Board Member Certification class. Gary is an active member of CAI, has served 2 years at the Central Florida chapter President and is currently serving on the Board as well as chairing the education committee. Gary holds the (CMCA) Certified Manager of Community Associations, Association Management Specialist (AMS) and (PCAM)Professional Community Association Manager designations through CAI as well as the CFCAM designation from (FCAP) Florida Community Association Professionals. Most recently Gary was appointed to the Florida Bars Unlicensed Practice of Law (UPL) committee. Gary is a contributor to the education curriculum of the statewide FCAP training program and has provided education courses at many City and County education conferences.

Doug Harrier, Vice President - Jacksonville Division

Doug is a Licensed Community Association Manager with over 30 years of experience in business management including Property, Association, Long Term Care, Hospitality Management and the previous owner of his own company. Doug has been with Leland Management since 2004. Doug held the position of Director of Manager Development prior to taking responsibility for management of the Jacksonville Division in 2006. The Jacksonville division has grown to encompass the area from Flagler Beach to the Georgia border. Doug was named Vice President in 2016. Doug holds the CMCA (Certified Manager of Community Associations), PCAM (Professional Community Association Manager) and AMS (Association Management Specialist) designations from the Community Association Institute (CAI). Doug has been a curriculum provider and instructor for National Business Institute and is certified by the State of Florida to teach accredited Board Certification Classes.

Martha Ledford, Vice President - Ocala Division

Martha Ledford has been a licensed community association manager with the State of Florida (LCAM) since 2004. She has been in the Association Management industry for over a decade and is currently a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) with the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBCCAM). Prior to joining the Leland Management team in 2011, Martha held the position of Vice-President for an Association Management Company based in Lake County, Florida that specialized in the development, transition and management of Active Adult 55+ communities. Martha was named a Vice President in 2016.

Jeff Gay, Director - Sarasota Division

Jeff Gay, a Leland Employee since 2009, is currently the Division Director for Leland Management in Sarasota as well as a Board Certification class instructor. He has spent the last 14 years managing HOAs and Condominiums all over the state of Florida. Prior to that, Jeff was a commercial building manager for 22 years. He was PCA’s National Manager of the year in 1995. Having his Real Estate license as well as his CMCA, Jeff has been an instructor at three National CAI Conferences. He is still involved in the day to day operation of several Leland Management communities. 

Greg Ashworth, Director of CAM Development

Greg has been with Leland Management for over 11 years and is a Director of Management Development for the Orlando Division. His responsibilities include supervision of both on-site and portfolio managers and he is heavily involved in business development. A Central Florida native, Greg joined the Leland team after attending Florida State University where he received a B.S. in Economics and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). He has also received the designation of Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA), Association Management Specialist (AMS) and is in the final stages of achieving his Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) certification. Greg was recognized as a 2014 “40 Under 40” Nominee by the Orlando Business Journal.
